Kitchen Surface Restoration: From Plaster to a Comfortable Homey Finish

This project was a total surface recovery. I stripped the room back to the studs, removing the original destroyed plaster from the walls and the ceiling. Before any finishing could happen, I had to level the floor to make sure the new cupboards and countertops would sit nicely.

I covered the old walls with modern 1/4" drywall, installed new flooring, and fitted all the cupboards and counters. I also integrated smart lighting and brought the entire space back to code. This is the level of interior repairs and surface updates I'd like to offer Thornton and the surrounding towns.

Technical Tile & Bathroom Surface Restoration

This project was a full surface recovery. I stripped the room back to the studs and the original plumbing to fix the core issues. I focused on leveling the walls and stabilizing the subfloor so the new tile would have a solid, flat base.

Mosaic Tile Bathroom Restoration

This restoration started with a complete strip-down to the subfloor. To ensure a dead-flat surface for the new mosaic, every gap and hole was meticulously taped off before a precision pour of floor leveler. The installation featured intricate, hand-scribed cuts to fit the tile perfectly around the contours of a 1920s tub. The final result was fully sealed and waterproofed immediately upon completion, turning a vulnerable floor into a lasting, high-end surface. This project involved covering old plaster walls with quarter-inch sheetrock to create a clean, modern surface. I built a completely new structural section in the living room to incorporate a pantry into a different part of the house. The update included the installation of new flooring and smart lighting throughout the room.

Summer Camp Hardwood Restoration & Protection

This project was about taking a raw, unfinished floor and giving it the protection it needed for a wet camp on a lake bathroom. I started by sanding away years of ground-in dirt and prep-sanding the wood to ensure a clean bond.

To handle the constant wear and water splashes common in a cramped camp setting, I laid three coats of marine-strength varnish. This gave the floor a rugged, water-resistant seal that preserves the wood and is easy to maintain. New Office Window Installation & Structural Frame Repair

This wasn't just a simple swap. The original opening was in such bad shape I had to dig into the wall and replace sections of the framing before the new replacement window could be installed correctly. Once the structure was sound, I properly sealed and leveled the unit—ensuring the bottom remained free of screws to allow for correct drainage and prevent future rot. I finished it with custom-cut trim for a comfortable home office look.

This transition step between the living room and kitchen was originally covered in old carpeting and felt out of place. To create a nice flow into the kitchen, I stripped the carpet and used leftover hardwood flooring from the homeowner's kitchen project. By custom-fitting the hardwood to the stair, I created a really nice transition that ties the two rooms together and eliminates the awkward break in the floor plan.

This entryway had been bare floor for years. Because the house had settled, there was a noticeable difference in the floor height, so I had to spend some time leveling the surface first. Once it was flat, I laid down Ditra to make sure the foundation stayed solid before setting the tiles. It took some tricky measuring and a precise layout to get this right, especially since the goal was a continuous run through the entrance and straight into the closet. This project was a surprise birthday gift from a wife to her husband— (no pressure!), but luckily, he was very happy with the result.

Full Exterior Restoration: 1920s Vintage to Modern

This was a six-month deep restoration. I sanded the entire cedar exterior down to bare wood before restaining to preserve the natural grain. The project included a full roof replacement, complete trim work, and a fresh paint application. I also repaired the stone foundation covers using a professional broom finish. The goal was to bridge the gap between the home's 1920s roots and a clean, modern aesthetic.

This challenging project involved a full restoration of a century-old summer camp porch. I rebuilt the failing fascia and trim and repainted the structure while strictly adhering to its original historical architecture. The centerpiece is the authentic radial-beamed ceiling, which required precise finish work to preserve its 1900s character.
