Custom Dartboard Backing Board
Game Room — Family Project — Brighton, CO
Sometimes it's just fun to make something cool. My nephew has a game room with a pool table and I'm a huge dart enthusiast. I said, 'Why don't we just stick a dartboard in here? It would round the room out pretty well.' He liked the idea.
So we headed over to the Brighton Home Depot to play around with some concepts. He picked out some really cool shiplap. We stood there for about an hour finding just the right pieces, even playing around with how to put them together right there in the aisle.
We went back to his place and started mounting this thing together. It was kind of neat to show him how to make nice cuts and just do something creative. We only took pictures of the before and after, but it was nice to do something with family that was just fun. I'd actually like it if people wanted me to do more custom mounting jobs like this. Who knows? Maybe you've got some cool job?
The Surprise Ending
As I was writing this story, I didn't even know my nephew had ordered a finishing touch! A really cool round light showed up at the door—completely unannounced.
The Finished Product
The idea actually came from a local place here in Brighton called Lizzie's, where the main attraction is axe throwing. They have these awesome circular lighting setups for their targets, and we thought, "Why not bring that same vibe to the dartboard?"
It turned out to be the perfect 'Wonderland' moment. It took a simple shiplap backing board and turned it into a professional-grade game room feature.
